Few people inspire our love of travel quite like Yolanda Edwards, founder of YOLO Journal. The former creative director of Conde Nast Traveller launched her own magazine in the summer of 2019, and has since transformed the way we look at travel photography. Providing a platform for little-known photographers, as well as those you may be familiar with, YOLO is a never-ending moodboard for summer. A lightweight caftan

Favourite Greek dish?
Impossible to answer because I love them all but I guess the boiled zucchini is one we love so much we make it at home all the time.

Best skincare tip for the avid traveller?
Rather than pack too many products, I just plan to use a washcloth as my exfoliant at the end of a day of sea and sun… followed by a rose oil. So I’m basically just bringing a sunscreen and an oil.

Best travel photography tip?
The most emotional images are the unposed moments, so I try to catch those. When I’m with friends on vacation, I photograph all of our hands together, which is, for me, more powerful than a picture of all of us smiling at the camera.

Best tip for exploring unknown territory?
I talk to everyone and ask them their favourite beach, cafe, restaurant, etc…and write everything down in my Notes on my phone…then I map it out, research it a bit…and go from there.

What, to you, makes a destination special and memorable, and one to return to?
It’s always the people that make me return to a place. There are so many beautiful places in the world that I haven’t been to, because I keep going back to the places where I have met people that have become dear friends.

Must-have items to bring back from Greece?
The rosary bracelet from the monastery in Patmos! They take up no space, are very inexpensive, and I give them to all of my friends. I also always buy vintage (or reproductions) postcards from wherever I am!
