Named after the Greek word for boat, Pliaria takes the traditional preppy style and gives it a laid-back – but highly desirable – feel. Handmade in Greece to a typical boat-shoe shape, the style is given a twist with distinctive leather laces rolled to form a special knot (inspired by the father of our creative director, Christina Martini), and finished with gold charms hanging from the laces. Already a must-have style, Pliaria adds insouciance to dresses or tailoring, or pairs beautifully with weekend favourites. The super-soft oiled vachetta leather is super sophisticated and available in a range of colours, plus several two-colour combinations which really draw the eye.

Italian sizing

Available in full sizes only. If you wear a half size, please size down to the nearest whole size.

This product is made of oily vachetta, an Italian vegetable-tanned leather. Due to its minimal coating, it displays all the
natural markings of the leather and will develop a beautiful patina over time. Each piece is unique and may vary slightly from another.

To preserve the natural beauty of the leather, gently clean
using a soft, damp cloth, never wet, to remove surface dirt.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, heat, or moisture, and limit contact with abrasive surfaces, which may compromise the finish over time.
  • When not in use, store your shoes in the accompanying Ancient Greek Sandals dust bag, away from light and friction.

Ancient Greek Sandals - Craftsmanship
Craftsmanship

Ancient Greek Sandals are handmade locally by skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques that have existed for centuries.

Stitching is used delicately when necessary. A variety of techniques are used throughout the collection to decorate the uppers, such as hot stamps, lacing, cut-outs, printing, braiding, beading and embossing.

The champagne coloured wing-design buckle is a brand trademark and refers back to the myth of the gifted sandal maker that made the sandals for the Ancient Greek Gods as well as Hermes the messenger god who wore winged sandals.
